Espio the Chameleon

 

Espio is an anthropomorphic chameleon, where mainly serves as an intelligent ninja warrior and a member of the Chaotix Detective Agency. There, he works together with Vector the Crocodile and Charmy Bee to solve whatever cases they are given, where he puts his skills to good use. While initially a hothead when introduced, Espio has since become a calm, soft-spoken, serious, and disciplined person whose wariness and soulful character makes him a vital member of his team, and balances out the foolishness of his friends.

Espio is very serious, quiet, level-headed, wise and disciplined, but also opinionated and somewhat arrogant at times. Despite this fact, he is usually eager to find danger to flex and polish his ninja skills. He is seen as a ninja-based character; his battle poses and shuriken stars support that portrayal. In one of Sonic's adventures, he plays the shamisen in the Chaotix's Team Blast, "Chaotix Recital". According to the team and Knuckles, Espio especially dislikes Dr. Eggman, although it's not stated precisely why, but at the end of the same adventure, the usual civil and soft-spoken chameleon even threatened the doctor's life. He is also able to see through Eggman's tricks very easily in Shadow's adventure a few months later, and tells Shadow to destroy the villain.

Five years after Sonic had arrived into the other world, he met up with the Chaotix and told them that they would really enjoy going to Arendelle. Espio had his doubts, but he was determined to find out what was going on. After the earthquake in Arendelle occured, he, Vector, and Charmy stayed in the castle and listened to their radio. Of course, this technology was fairly new to the city, but it was still used. After hearing the news that the robots were at large and were planning to threaten the city, the usual calm and soft-spoken chameleon freaked out and got to work on some target practice with his shurikens (ninja stars).

About an hour later, he decided to help Tails with his project, and he was able to work on getting out a few bugs from the plane and the battle gear mode. When the project was finished, and unbeknown to him that the Power Rangers (save Sonic) had all been captured, he left with Tails and the rest of the group to confront the Master. They all then fought Lyric (the Master's final form) and ended up winning against him, but then they got knocked out because of his revival. When the Power Rangers turned into their Legend Warrior mode and defeated Lyric for good, Eggman and Metal Sonic worked on trying to find a way to make things better for the city. Espio and the rest of the Chaotix lived in Arendelle for the rest of their lives and became a great detective squadron for Elsa's international security organization I.C.E.
